Art and Chance
Art, Chance, and Automatism. There is no true random. Chance is something that happens beyond your control. Chance in art happens a lot. At least in my art. Even though I decide how to put what where I never know how it will turn out. The chance that it will turn out like I intend is about 0.01 in a hundred. Automatism, I don’t know if this really works for me. For some reason no matter what I do I always pick, choose, and edit before making a mark of any kind. I have tried just to let my hand translate whats in my brain, but I can’t. It gets so frustrating sometimes. I think chance and automatism play important roles in art as a whole. Without either art wouldn’t have a meaning. To some extent when you make art your body is translating what your thinking. Your putting a piece of yourself into it, by chance.

Games of Chance
On Thursday we had to make up some games of chance to play, here are the two we came up with:
The first game is a game with dice. You roll the dice and each number corresponds to and action for example: 1-turn around, 2-your choice, 3-stomp, 4-clap, 5-the monkey, 6-the butterfly; so you roll the dice and do the action it corresponds to, so it’s kind of a chance dancing game.
The second game is everyone has an animal or a card with an animal on it on their forehead everyone walks around and when you encounter someone you have to act like the animal that is on their forehead while they act like the animal that is on your forehead. you each try and guess your animal.
